The Smell of Jasmine was a collaborative artwork commissioned by Wollongong City Council for council’s multicultural art festival Culture Mix in 2023. The work was developed over several weeks with women from Wollongong Community Hub.

Participants were asked to make a response to a commissioned poem by local poet Butch Schwarzkof, then were supported to work together to come up with a vision for a collaborative work. The final mixed media artwork was exhibited for 12-months at the Ethel Hayton Walkway art boxes in Wollongong CBD, and now resides within the local community hub.
